Do's & Don'ts of Owning a Dog
"Outside Behavior"
Do
Teach your dog basic obedience and good behavior.
Keep him confined in your yard.
Be mindful of the heat in summer, the cold in winter and dampness all year round.
Always have fresh water available
See that he has proper exercise on a regular basis.
Pick up after him.
Spend time playing with him.
Provide proper shelter.
Don't
Ignore the need to teach your dog good manners.
Let him bark or howl excessively.
Tie him up and leave him alone for long periods of time.
Allow him to roam about the neighborhood unattended.
Let him soil a neighbor's yard, dig holes or tear into plants.
Tolerate chasing after cars or bikes.
Allow him to pursue the mailman, children or anyone else.
Permit biting or attacking of any person.
Let him get embroiled in fights with other dogs, cats or other animals.
Ignore his needs, health and well-being while outside.
